Tinos Cyclades holidays
Tinos is part of the northern section of the Cyclades complex and is one of Cyclades' largest islands. The islands is also know as the island of the "Megalochari", a name the Greeks have given to Madonna. Most of the island's visitors, come to visit the holy temple of "Evagelistria". It is important to mention that near the temple of Evreseos, you will see Elli's mausoleum, where the bones of the dead of Elli's shipwreck are being kept, the first heroes of the World War 2. A part of the torpedo and objects of the ship are also being kept there. Other sites of the island are Poseidon's and Amfitriti's sacred area, the lofts of pigeons and the monastery of Kehrovounio. In the island there is also an archaeological museum and the Museum of Artists of Tinos.
Tinos is not famous for its intense night life. There are however, many places to entertain yourself. For those who prefer peaceful vacations, Tinos is the ideal destination, offering low-budget vacations with many rooms to let and hotels with low prices. There are numerous small villages on the island surrounded by nature, having traditional houses of Cycadic style, squares, taverns, cafes and traditional Greek cafes (called "kafeneia"). Pirgos, Tinos' biggest village, is famous for its marble statues and sculptures. Giannoulis Halepas has his origins from this beautiful Greek island. Famous beaches of Tinos are Pahia Ammos and Rohari, and in general all beaches in Tinos offer peace and relaxation to their visitors.
